Three militants surrender in Assam

Barpeta, Aug 6 (ANI): Three militants of a separatist group, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), surrendered in Assam. The militants also handed over a cache of arms and ammunition to the police and paramilitary, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Deputy Superintendent of Police of Barpeta Police Station, B C Nath said one AK-56 rifle, one magazine, 17 rounds of ammunition, one 7.6mm pistol and two Chinese grenades were surrendered by the militants. The militants have been identified as Rajani Brahma, Sanjib Basumatari and B. Brahma. Nath informed the police were keeping a tight vigil ahead of Independence Day on August 15. Aug 6, 2014

New Delhi, Aug 6 (ANI): Indian Olympic Association (IOA) General Secretary Rajeev Mehta, who was arrested in Glasgow on charges of alleged drunken driving, on Wednesday said that there were no charges against him. He was on his way back home after returning from the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. On August 3, Scotland Police had arrested Mehta for driving in a drunken state while wrestling referee Virender Malik was booked for sexual assault but the charges were later dropped against them. He further said that they should be banned in the future. Two top officials of Indian Olympic Association (IOA), general secretary, Rajiv Mehta, and wrestling referee, Virender Malik, were arrested in Glasgow on Saturday on separate charges. Indian sports officials arrested in Glasgow

New Delhi, Aug 03 (ANI): Indian wrestler Rajiv Tomar on Sunday said that the arrest of Indian sports officials in Glasgow will bring disgrace to the country and spoil the winner image. Rajeev Mehta, secretary general of the Indian Olympic Association and a senior member of the Indian contingent at the Commonwealth Games, and wrestling referee Virender Singh Malik, were arrested in Glasgow on Saturday evening, evoking shock and shame among athletes and sports lovers. The two were in custody over the weekend and will be produced in a Glasgow court on Monday.
