Japan's SoftBank CEO meets PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Japan-based telecom giant SoftBank Corporation, Masayoshi Son held a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Son, who was accompanied by a delegation of his company directors, covered many issues during his interaction with Modi. Softbank, one of the major telecom and internet corporations of Japan, will seek opportunities in the sectors of e-commerce and telecom in India. The bus belonged to the Assam State Transport Corporation and was going from Lakhimpur district to Guwahati. A total of 33 people were reportedly on the bus. Union Cabinet passes ordinance to auction coal blocks

New Delhi, Oct 21 (ANI): The Union Cabinet on Monday passed an ordinance to auction the non-operating coal blocks, which were cancelled by the Supreme Court last month. The ordinance has been sent to President Pranab Mukherjee for his final approval. The cabinet also announced that Coal India's interests will be fully protected and only Indian companies will be allowed to participate in the bidding for the coal blocks. The government also moved to open up its coal industry to commercial mining while protecting the requirements of state-run Coal India, signalling the most serious shift in 42 years toward allowing private players' full participation in coal mining. The mines would also be allotted to public sector units such as the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), which engages in electricity generation and allied activities. Oct 21, 2014

TORRENT POWER LTD. and SKS MICROFINANCE LTD. were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 12.60% and 8.88% along with HINDUSTAN PETROLEUM CORPORATION LTD. and TVS MOTOR COMPANY LTD. with an increase of 7.28% and 6.55% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include DEN and JINDAL STEEL and POWER LTD. with a decrease of 8.81% and 8.58% along with KAILASH and GVK POWER and INFRASTRUCTURE LTD. with a decrease of 8.32% and 5.62% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 369.44 points at 17,388.21 while the banking sector is up 324.17 points at 18,564.39 and the reality sector is up 12.52 points at 1,442.16.
