Giridih, Nov 30 (ANI): The state police arrested a hardcore Maoist and recovered explosives along with arms and ammunition in Jharkhand. Acting on a tip-off, the Giridih police sent a team to hunt the dreaded Maoist and nabbed him immediately. The Superintendent of Police (SP), Giridih, Kranti Kumar said that the nabbed Maoist had been identified as Dinesh Manjhi and was a hardcore leader and platoon commander of a Maoist organization in Jharkhand. The Maoist was pasting posters for boycotting the state elections. He had been involved in many Naxal incidents of Jharkhand. Explosives, materials for making bomb and arms have been obtained from the Maoist. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since 1960s. Dec 1, 2014

CRPF Director General says state govt want Maoism to continue

New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): Director General (DG) of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Dilip Trivedi accused some state governments of helping Maoism to continue for their selfish reasons while addressing a news conference in New Delhi. Trivedi was addressing mediapersons and other CRPF officers before ending his term as DG on November 30. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since 1960s. Meanwhile, Trivedi also said various committees and studies conducted by the government for welfare of forces was a waste of public money. Security beefed up in Assam ahead of PM's visit for DGPs conference

Guwahati, Nov 28 (ANI): Security stepped up ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with the police chiefs in Assam. Modi and Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh will address the two-day meet, which begins on Saturday, and being held in Assam for the first time. Directors general of police (DGPs) and inspectors general of police (IGPs) from the states and union territories, chief ministers of the northeastern states, officials from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and paramilitary forces will take part in it. Director General of Police Khagen Sarma said all precautionary measures are being taken to prevent any untoward incident. India's northeast consists of eight states which are beset with militancy and insurgency. Indian Army recovers huge cache of arms and ammunition ahead of JandK polls

Srinagar, Nov 24 (ANI): Indian army recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Kupwara and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday ahead of assembly election. The five-phase polls in Jammu and Kashmir will begin on November 25 and will end on December 20. The results are scheduled to be announced on December 23. General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Kashmir-Based 15 Corps of Indian Army, Lieutenant General Subrata Saha said that linkage between recovery of large consignment of the weapon and the ceasefire violations cannot be ruled out. Saha assured that collectively all the security forces including Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were keeping a tight vigil at the polls related security. Militants have been frequently attacking security bases in Kashmir since the 1990s, when there was a full-blown insurgency against Indian rule in a region over which India and Pakistan fought two of their three wars. Huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered in J and K

Baramulla, Nov 23 (ANI): Army personnel on Sunday recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from a militant hideout in forest area in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to Major MK Chaitanya, the security personnel had been receiving inputs for the past two and a half months about the movement of militants in woods in the district. On Sunday, after receiving a specific input, with the assistance of Special Operations Group (SOG), an elite anti-insurgency force of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the weapons were seized.
