Woman succumbs to swine flu in Amritsar, family blames doctors for negligence

Amritsar, Jan 28 (ANI): Swine flu claimed another life in Amritsar city of Punjab. The victim was a 50-year-old woman who succumbed to the deadly virus soon after she was brought to a government hospital for treatment. Victim's Son Surdeep Singh further claimed that after an hour of his mother's death the doctors told them the reports showed her positive for the deadly virus and the hospital did not have the requisite measures in place as claimed by the government. However, Civil Surgeon Doctor Ajeet Bhalla refuted these allegations and said the patient was given proper care. Swine flu is caused by H1N1 virus. H1N1 symptoms are similar to those produced by other influenza viruses - fever, cough, sore throat, body aches and respiratory problems. Man dies of swine flu in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, Jan 22 (ANI): A 42-year-old man died of swine flu at a government hospital in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, doctors said on Thursday. The victim identified as Shabbir Hussain Mustafa was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Wednesday in a critical condition. His lungs were damaged and he was kept on ventilator. Dr Mangala Borkar, head of the medicine department, said he was administered Tamiflu but he did not respond to it. This is the first swine flu casualty in the region in the last six months. Swine flu is caused by H1N1 virus. Punjab records first swine flu death

Amritsar, Jan 21 (ANI): Punjab reported its first swine flu death of the year as a 55-year-old woman succumbed to the H1N1 virus at a private hospital in Amritsar city. Sarabjit Kaur was admitted in the hospital on Friday with complains of high fever and cough. Kaur also had uncontrolled diabetic condition. He informed that she had not travelled in recent past or contacted any swine flu patient. Swine flu is caused by H1N1 virus.
