Imran Khan appeals to Pak army chief for revival of dialogue with Taliban

South Waziristan, May 28 (ANI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, Imran Khan has appealed to the country’s army chief not to carry out any military operation in Waziristan and to revive peace talks with the Taliban . Last week, Pakistani forces launched rare air strikes against Taliban militants holed up in the remote, tribal belt near the Afghan border after several rounds of government-led talks aimed at ending an insurgency in the remote region failed. Although the government has said no decision for a full scale military operation in North Waziristan has been taken, on May 22, the military backed that up with the first major ground offensive against the Taliban. Imran Khan said the military offensive was turning the patriotic residents of Waziristan against their country. May 28, 2014
