Modi's newly elected Cabinet portfolios announced

New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inducted four cabinet ministers, three Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and 14 Ministers of State in his first cabinet expansion on Sunday and the portfolios were decided later. Former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is the new Defence Minister and Suresh Prabhu will now head the Railway Ministry, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government carried out the first cabinet expansion on Sunday. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who earlier held the Defence portfolio as an additional charge has now been given the Information and Broadcasting Ministry's additional charge. JP Nadda, who also took oath as a Cabinet minister on Sunday, gets the portfolio of Health and Family Welfare, which was earlier held by Dr Harsh Vardhan. Harsh Vardhan has been shifted to the Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Ministry which has been stripped off from Jitendra Singh, who has got Independent charge of Development of North Eastern Region. If BJP takes support from NCP, Shiv Sena will sit in opposition in Maharashtra: Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai, Nov 09 (ANI): Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackaray on Sunday said that the party will sit in opposition in Maharashtra if BJP takes support from NCP. He said that the Shiv Sena also wants stable government in Maharashtra but it doesn't mean that the party will support the party which takes support of people who spoke of saffron terrorism. Amid speculations that Sena will call off ties with BJP, Thackeray said that Shiv Sena is there to serve the people but not with people who wants to destroy Maharashtra. He also said that it is up to the BJP to make clear its stand on whether to take NCP's support in the state or not in the next 2-3 days. Further, Thackaray also said that Suresh Prabhu's decision to leave Shiv Sena and join BJP was unfortunate. Murli Manohar Joshi to 'adopt a village' in Kanpur

Kanpur, Nov 09 (ANI): BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Sunday decided to adopt a village as a part of 'adopt-a-village' programme 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' (SAGY). Joshi will be adopting the Dehli-Sujanpur village in Kanpur as a part of this scheme. The village was visited by various members of the Kanpur unit of BJP including its chief Surendra Maithani and BJP legislator Raghunandan Singh Bhadauria who assessed the state of the village. Maithani said that it was shocking to see that a village located near a well developed city of Kanpur was so under-developed. Resident of Dehli-Sujanpur village, Suresh Kumar said that lack of toilets in the village was a matter of utmost concern. PM Modi expands Union Cabinet, inducts 22 new ministers

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday finally expanded his Council of Ministers and reshuffled his Cabinet for the first time after taking over as the Prime Minister of India in May. The new ministers took the oath of office at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of the NDA ministers and the prime minister himself. President Pranab Mukherjee administered oath to the ministers as their names were being announced at the grand function. The first to take oath was Manohar Parrikar who is tipped to get the defence portfolio. Following him were Suresh Prabhu, JP Nadda and Ch Birender Singh who took oath as Cabinet Ministers.
