Mumbai, Jan 15 (ANI): The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) surprised markets with a 25 basis point cut in interest rates on Thursday and signalled it could do more, amid signs of slowing inflation and what it said was a government commitment to contain the fiscal deficit. Finance Minister Jaitley holds pre-budget meet with IT sector representatives

New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley met representatives of Information Technology (hardware and software) sector ahead of the budget to discuss issues faced by the industry. Jaitley is due to present the BJP-led government's 2015/16 budget and its fiscal deficit target to parliament at the end of February. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Infosys, Vishal Sikka praised Jaitley for making an effort to meet everyone for pre-budget consultations. The budget statement will be preceded by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) policy meeting on February 03, with some speculation that the central bank could lower its key interest rate, which has stayed unchanged at 8 percent since January 2014. Eleven Maoist sympathisers surrender in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, Jan 14 (ANI): Eleven Maoist sympathisers surrendered before police in port city of Visakhapatnam. One woman member was among those surrendered. Police said they also arrested a Maoist rebel accused in 15 cases. Praveen said the surrendered members would be rehabilitated under various government policies, adding he was expecting more to come forward to join the mainstream. The surrender comes after police along with paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) called tribals in interior places in Andhra Pradesh to submit themselves amid combing operations at the Andhra-Odisha state borders. Three Maoists killed in an encounter in Jharkhand

Hazaribagh, Jan 13 (ANI): Security personnel killed three Maoists in an encounter in Jharkhand. Following a tip-off, the district police coordinated the entire operation with paramilitary Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) and Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA). Kumar also urged the Maoists to give up arms and join the mainstream by surrendering under government's rehabilitation schemes. Police also recovered a 303 gun, an AK-47 from the slain Maoists. Chirang, Jan 12 (ANI): Police arrested 12 militants and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from them on the third-day of operation in Assam. Superintendent of Police, Ranjan Kumar Bhuyan, said a joint operation with paramilitary forces was launched in the Manas reserve forest on the intelligence input. The militants belonged to banned outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), which is fighting for a separate homeland for indigenous Bodo tribesmen, saying that the tea-growing state has been flooded with outsiders.
