Dhaka holds Photo Exhibition dedicated to 1971 Liberation War

Dhaka, Dec 10 (ANI): A photo exhibition depicting the atrocities committed during the Liberation War of 1971 is being held in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka. Titled '1971 Genocide and Tortures', the exhibition has been organised by Bangladesh National Museum and Genocide and Torture Archive and Museum Trust as the nation observes December as the month of Liberation. The eight-day exhibition aims to illustrate the torture the people of the country were subjected to. It also offers a glimpse into the past to the young generation and helps them learn about the freedom struggle of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, a visitor Fatema Mamun, said the photos at the exhibition reminded her of the days when she lived in constant fear. On display at the exhibition were numerous paintings, photographs, sketches and replicas of artworks by eminent artists of the country to portray the heinous and inhuman torture committed by the Pakistani occupation army and the level of horror faced by the people. PM Modi pays tribute to C Rajagopalachari on his 136th birth anniversary

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to freedom fighter, scholar and thinker C Rajagopalachari (Rajaji) on his 136th birth anniversary. The Prime Minister took to twitter to pay his tributes to Rajaji. He tweeted saying, "I offer my tributes to the great freedom fighter, scholar and thinker par excellence, Shri C Rajagopalachari on his birth anniversary. Rajaji was known for his administrative and political skills as well as for his literary and cultural pursuits. A remarkable personality!" he added. Born in 1878, Rajagopalachari was the last Governor-General of India. He also served as the Union Minister for Home Affairs, Premier of the Madras Presidency, Chief Minister of Madras State and Governor of West Bengal. Dec 10, 2014

Dalai Lama leaves for Rome to attend World Nobel laureates Summit

Kangra, Dec 09 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader the 14th Dalai Lama left for Rome to attend 14th World Summit of Nobel laureates, which was earlier scheduled in South Africa but cancelled in protest over denial of visa to him. The summit was suspended earlier in September after the South African government failed to issue a visa for the Dalai Lama who wanted to attend the summit in Cape Town. Tibetan PM in'exile Lobsang Sangay said Dalai Lama's participation sends as a positive message across the world for human rights and basic freedom. Tibetan administration is quite pleased that the Nobel laureates unanimously decided to move their conference to Rome with the participation of Dalai Lama. Dec 9, 2014
