New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the Jeevan Praman-Digital Life Certificate for pensioners in a move that could eventually benefit over a crore pensioners. Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was also present at the event. Prasad said that digital certification will do away with the requirement of a pensioner having to submit a physical Life Certificate in November each year, in order to ensure continuity of pension being credited into his account. Murli Manohar Joshi to 'adopt a village' in Kanpur

Kanpur, Nov 09 (ANI): BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Sunday decided to adopt a village as a part of 'adopt-a-village' programme 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' (SAGY). Joshi will be adopting the Dehli-Sujanpur village in Kanpur as a part of this scheme. The village was visited by various members of the Kanpur unit of BJP including its chief Surendra Maithani and BJP legislator Raghunandan Singh Bhadauria who assessed the state of the village. Maithani said that it was shocking to see that a village located near a well developed city of Kanpur was so under-developed. Resident of Dehli-Sujanpur village, Suresh Kumar said that lack of toilets in the village was a matter of utmost concern. And, realizing the potential of this non-traditional cash-crop, many people in the region are shifting their attention towards mushroom cultivation. The Ministry of Rural Development runs a special scheme on mushroom farming, which motivates many farmers to adopt this alternative form of farming. Meet Nilotpal Sinha, a teacher turned entrepreneur who runs "Vivekananda Mushroom centre" at South Hurua in North Tripura. Started mushroom farming in 2003 in a small area, today his centre produces 6 kg of crop everyday. Sinha earns Rs. 25,000 to 30,000 in a month by producing milky and oyster mushrooms. Mushroom consumption in India is comparatively low, but 55 per cent of the households consume mushrooms in their daily diet. Nov 9, 2014

Sports stars hail govt's training initiative for athlete ahead of Olympic Games

New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): Sports stars hailed Modi government's initiative of better training programme for athletes ahead of Olympic Games in a bid to enhance their performance to bag more medals for the country. The Sports Ministry has decided to start a "Target Mission Olympic Podium Scheme", an initiative promoted by National Sports Development fund to identify sports personnel and train them for Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics and other major sporting events up to 2020 games. Appreciating the government's plan, Cricketer Rahul Dravid said the initiative will not only encourage the sportspersons but will also play a major role in increasing the medal tally of India in the future events. Olympian boxer Mary Kom said she being part of the planning committee would help in structuring a better programme for sportspersons, which would in turn help to boost their performance on the international platforms.
