Metro services to start at 4 AM on polling day in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 06 (ANI): The Delhi Metro will start operations at 4 AM on Saturday to enable voters to reach their respective polling booths to exercise their franchise to elect 70 members to the Delhi Assembly. A Delhi Metro release said that the trains will run at intervals of 30 minutes till 5:30 AM on all its lines. Thereafter, it said frequency would increase and trains will start running as per the normal schedule after 5:30 AM. Announcements in this regard are being made in the trains as well as on station premises. The Election Commission has been carrying out an awareness campaign with people commuting on the Delhi Metro with an aim to encourage them to vote in the assembly polls. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is also scrolling voter awareness messages on display screens installed in train coaches. Delhi goes to polls on February 7, while the results will be declared on February 10. Feb 6, 2015

Swine Flu claims four more lives in Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 06 (ANI): Swine flu claimed four more lives in Mumbai, taking the toll to nearly 200 across the country in 2015. Additional Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai, Sanjay Deshmukh said 26 patients were admitted in various hospitals. The disease has killed 191 people in the country in January alone with Telangana being worst hit. So far 2,038 people have been afflicted by the virus. Swine flu is caused by H1N1 virus. Fuel prices reduced ahead of polls in Delhi

New Delhi/ Bengaluru/ Mumbai, Feb 04 (ANI): Fuel prices have been reduced by Rs 2.42 for Petrol and Rs 2.25 for Diesel with effect from the midnight of February 3rd and 4th. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said it would cut the retail price of diesel by about 4.7 percent and that of gasoline by 4.1 percent from Wednesday (February 04), as global prices have eased since the last revision. AAP leader Ashish Khetan said that slashing of fuel prices was a stunt by the Central government keeping February 07 Delhi polls in mind. Stray dogs to be sterilised in Raipur

Raipur, Feb 03 (ANI): Residents of Raipur in Chhattisgarh state are likely to breathe a sigh of relief as city municipal body began a sterilisation drive to put an end to the menace of stray dogs. The drive aims to sterilise around 2000 stray dogs in the region. It was undertaken after a few people fell prey to dog bites. City Mayor, Pramod Dubey, is hopeful that the efforts taken by the municipal body would bring some relief to locals. Meanwhile, veterinary doctor said that when the dogs are ravenous, they have tendency to bite and they prey on humans. Government district veterinary hospital has been asked to sterilise around 26-30 dogs a day. Dogs would be vaccinated against rabies after being operated upon. Feb 3, 2015
