J and K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hits out at opponents for demanding polls in flood hit state

Bandipora, Nov 22 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday hit out at his opponents for demanding elections in the state in wake of massive floods. Abdullah alleged that central ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), opposition Congress party and state's main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), didn't care for distressed people. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of villages were devastated by the worst flooding in decades in the Kashmir valley. Roads in Srinagar, Kashmir's main city, were transformed into stagnant canals strewn with wreckage, trash and dead animals. Meanwhile, Abdullah also replied to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's allegation that state government was enmeshed in corruption. Arun Jaitley launches 'Kisan Vikas Patra' to lure small investors

New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday re-launched a certificate savings scheme in New Delhi to encourage investment for country's development. In a bid to encourage small savings among citizens, the successful scheme known as 'Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP)' or Farmer's Development Letter was re-launched. KVP are certificates issued by government of India that can be availed in the denominations of rupees 500, rupees 1,000, rupees 5,000 and rupees 10,000 at all post offices across India. Jaitley said that this scheme was intended to keep small investors away from fraudulent schemes that make attractive bids. Meanwhile, the investment made in the certificate scheme will double in 100 months and certificates can be issued in single or joint names and is transferable. DDA postpones housing scheme draw till indefinite period

New Delhi, Nov 17 (ANI): The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has indefinitely postponed the date for a lucky draw of its much-sought-after housing scheme once again. It is learnt that the DDA was unable to wrap up the process in less than six hours during mock draws and hence postponed the actual draw. Forms for more than 25,000 houses were available till October 09, starting from September 01. CPI (M) to protest over squeezing of MGNREGA

Patna, Nov 16 (ANI): Communist Party of India-Marxist CPI (M), on Sunday said that it would launch a nationwide protest against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government for squeezing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act MGNREGA, which provides jobs for 50 million households. CPI-M general secretary, Prakash Karat, while addressing a news briefing in Patna, said the scheme was important for the poor. Karat said that MGNREGA benefited India's northeastern state of Tripura but if the funds were cut, 50 percent people would not have any work.
