Kalyan Singh sworn in as Governor of Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, Jan 29 (ANI): The governor of Rajasthan, Kalyan Singh took additional charge as the governor of Himachal Pradesh. The Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Mansoor Ahmed Mir gave oath of office as the 26th governor of Himachal Pradesh. Speaking to media in Shimla's Raj Bhawan, he said that he is pleased to follow the orders of the President Pranab Mukherjee. He also said that he has an emotional bonding with the state of Himachal Pradesh and would discharge the duty as governor of the state. The President has earlier this month asked Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh to discharge the functions of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, in addition to his own duties, till further orders. JandK's PDP positive about an alliance with BJP for government formation

Jammu, Jan 29 (ANI): People's Democratic Party (PDP) indicated that it could form an alliance with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form government in Jammu and Kashmir. PDP Spokesperson Naeem Akhtar said that the party was aware of the fact that it could not work alone. PDP emerged as the single largest party in the state bagging 28 seats in the 87-member legislature, brightening its chances of forming a coalition government. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir BJP unit President Jugal Kishore met Governor NN Vohra but did not divulge any details about a probable alliance with PDP and on his discussions with Vohra. State governors and dignitaries mark 66th Republic Day in India

Bhopal/ Hyderabad/Raipur/ Vishakhapatnam/ Lucknow, Jan 26 (ANI): Indian states on Monday observed 66th Republic Day. Madhya Pradesh witnessed the parade by the police force as the state governor Ram Naresh Yadav saluted the force and greeted them on the Republic day. Uttar Pradesh being the largest Indian state witnessed various tableaux showcasing the culture and rich heritage and also the parade by the police personnel along with flypast. Meanwhile, a ceremonial parade was also held at the Eastern Naval Command parade ground in Vishakhapatnam. Vice Admiral Satish Soni, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, took the salute. Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan also addressed the state on the occasion and saluted the police force. Chhattisgarh Governor Balram Das Tandon also saluted the parade and hoisted the national flag in Raipur. Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. New Delhi, Jan 26 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended greetings to the people of Australia on their official national day. Prime Minister Modi took to twitter to wish Australia. "Best wishes to people of Australia on Australia Day! Will always cherish the warmth of the people of Australia during my visit last November," he posted. Nation observes 66th Republic Day

Different states observed the National festival with much vigor as the state chiefs and governors witnessed the parade and hosted national flag in respective states. BJP President hosted the national flag and sang the national anthem at party headquaters in Delhi. New Delhi, Jan 25 (ANI): US President Barack Obama on Sunday reached the Rashtrapati Bhawan and was given a ceremonial reception by President Pranab Mukherjee. President Obama was accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, with a grand welcome ceremony followed by the Guard of Honour, where the battalion was led by a woman officer. The US President also received a 21-gun salute. National anthems of both nations were also played to welcome the President.
