Northeast region emerges as a potential investment destination

Guwahati, Feb 20 (ANI): A steady decline in insurgency has given a boost to trade and commerce activities in the Northeast region. Recently, several Medium, Micro and Small industries from the northeastern region as well as from other states and neighbouring countries have come together to showcase their products at the ongoing 22nd Guwahati International Trade Fair. The fair organized by the Industries and Trade Fair Association of Assam in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC), was inaugurated by Union Cabinet Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Kalraj Mishra in the presence of several dignitaries including Bangladesh High commissioner. The Union Minister attended the inaugural session of the Northeast MSME Conclave at the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship and highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the centre for promoting entrepreneurship in the MSME sector in the region. Rajnath Singh meets Bangladesh official ahead of home secretary level talks

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday (February 17) met Bangladesh's Senior Secretary of Home Affairs, Md. Mozammel Haque Khan in New Delhi ahead of Home Secretary level talks between the two countries. Khan will meet India's new Home Secretary LC Goyal later in the day to hold talks on issues like cross-border movements of people and goods, border cooperation in counter-terror initiatives. India's links with Bangladesh are civilisational, cultural, social and economic. On February 14, Singh had visited border areas of Tripura to review the progress of fencing work. Indian origin boy shot dead in US, family seeks justice

Kheda, Feb 17 (ANI): An unknown assailant shot dead an Indian origin-boy, Amit Patel in New Jersey in the US. A native of Kheda district in Gujarat, Amit Patel, 27, was living in Irvington town of New Jersey for the past 15 years with his parents and wife and owned a liquor store there. His mother and wife, who were in India to attend a wedding, immediately left for US on receiving the news. At the time of the incident, Amit Patel was sitting at the counter of his shop, while his father was asleep. The sound of the shot woke him up who then called his friends seeking their help, but the victim died on the spot. Meanwhile, Amit Patels fathers best friend, Janak Gour demanded justice. Few days ago, the incident of an elderly Gujarati man from Kheda district badly beaten up by American police had also sent shock waves among the Gujarati community living in the US. Feb 17, 2015
