Jammu, Jan 28 (ANI): Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday filed nomination papers for Rajya Sabha in Jammu. Azad said that National Conference and Congress have been together since the fight for freedom of India so it is not new if they again join hands. He added that the comments of US President Barack Obama on religious cooperation was a master stroke as he gave a lesson to the government that no country can progress until people from all religions are taken along. New Delhi, Jan 28 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Barack Obama's remarks which emphasized on the need of religious freedom. BJP leader Sambit Patra on Wednesday said that Obama by his remarks meant that India and US have accommodated various religions and hence are successful democracies. All India Imam Organization Chief Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi also dismissed that the remarks of the US president marked a rebuke ton anyone. Congress leader PC Chacko said that Congress has been talking about religious freedom and it is for the BJP to understand. Leaders from other political parties also expressed similar sentiments. He added that racial discrimination still exists in many parts of the world. Talking about harmony between religions, Obama said that India will succeed so long as it is not splintered on religious lines. President Obama, who was on a three-day visit of India, concludes his trip later in the day. A visit to one such rope making unit speaks volumes about the Hindu-Muslim unity. People of both communities work together and report no tensions between them. Owned by a Muslim, this rope making unit employs workers from both communities. The owner claims that he has expanded his business over the years leading to creation of more jobs. Funeral prayers for Saudi king Abdullah offered in Pakistan

Islamabad, Jan 25 (ANI): Pakistani people, including senior government and embassy officials, offered funeral prayers-in-absentia for Saudi king Abdulla who died after a short illness early on Friday (January 23). Prime minister's advisor on national security and foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, senior government and embassy officials attended the prayers led by minister for religious affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf. The prayers were offered in Islamabd's Faisal Mosque which is named after the late King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz of Saudi Arabia, who supported and financed the project. A one-day official mourning was observed in Pakistan on Friday on the sad demise of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. The national flag flew at half mast. In a condolence message, Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed grief and sorrow over the King's demise, saying that being the custodian of the Holy Mosques he had a special place in the heart of every Pakistani.
