91 children run away from juvenile jail in Meerut

Meerut, Feb 02 (ANI): In a shocking incident in Meerut city, 91 children absconded from a Bal Sudhar Grah (Children Reformation Home) during wee hours on Monday morning. The children made a cloth-rope and jumped over the jail's kitchen wall, the rear side of the premises, at around 3 AM which according to the District Police Officer (DPO) Yatendra Singh, was not being guarded by any police official since the wall was quite high. At present, 185 children were in jail, of which 56 had been shifted to Bulandshahr city and some more were about to be shifted in Ghaziabad. New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday said that the revelations made by Jayanthi Natarajan regarding the Environment Ministry are a matter of grave concern and he would review the specific files mentioned in Jayanthi's letter. In a major embarrassment for the Congress party Jayanthi Natarajan, who was sacked as Environment minister three months ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls has apparently blasted the leadership of Rahul Gandhi in a letter sent to party chief Sonia Gandhi. According to reports, the minister is likely to quit the party days ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls. Police arrest Maoist in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Jan 29 (ANI): Acting on a tip-off, police arrested a Maoist commander in Jharkhand’s capital city Ranchi. The Maoist was involved in at least 15 cases including murder and extortion. He had launched a separate outfit named Jharkhand Gram Raksha Dal (Village Defence Party). A special team was formed to arrest the Maoist, identified as Prakash Kerketta alias Arvind. Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said the Maoist tried to flee but police cornered and captured him. A country made carbine, gun, bullets and motorcycle were also recovered from him. The Maoists, also known as Naxals in India, are inspired by the political philosophy of China's late Chairman Mao Zedong. New Delhi, Jan 28 (ANI): Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday said that a bilateral meeting is being held between India and Germany aiming at strengthening the cooperation between the two nations on issues related to environment. Javadekar and German Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks held discussions on various issues related to environment including climate change and sustainable development. The meeting is being held in the wake of nations preparing national plans for cutting down their carbon emissions after 2020 annually. Politicos offer their condolences over the demise of legendary cartoonist RK Laxman

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Politicos on Tuesday mourned the death of eminent cartoonist RK Laxman, whose "You Said It" cartoon featuring the 'Common Man' lampooned India's powerful for half a century. Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that it is a great loss to the country. Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar also expressed his grief over the demise of Laxman. Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore and BJD leader Jay Panda also expressed similar sentiments. According to media reports, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will attend the last rites of Laxman, who will be accorded the state funeral in Pune.
