Patna, Feb 20 (ANI): Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday stepped down as the Bihar Chief Minister, hours before he was to seek a vote of confidence in the state assembly. Manjhi had earlier met Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi at the Governor's House. Manjhi was locked in a showdown with former Bihar chief minister and senior JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar, who had handpicked him to take his place last year. The BJP had asked its 87 MLAs to vote in favour of Manjhi today while the JD(U), RJD, Congress and CPI had issued a whip to its legislators to vote against him. MP Assembly adjourned till tomorrow after opposition uproar

Bhopal, Feb 18 (ANI): The Madhya Pradesh Assembly has been adjourned till tomorrow following a massive uproar by the Congress Party over the Vyapam scam. The Congress MLAs staged a walkout from the assembly and demanded the resignations of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Governor Ram Naresh Yadav. Earlier on Monday, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh had alleged that Chief Minister Chouhan's name was replaced by Union Minister Uma Bharti and others in the Vyapam case. JD (U) suspends seven pro-Manjhi ministers

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): JD (U) on Tuesday suspended seven pro-Manjhi ministers from party leadership. Party Chief Sharad Yadav said that when he was told about the ministers he took immediate action on problems faced due to the leaders. Yadav added that he assessed the situation and took immediate action by moving court. He also said that Jitan Ram Manjhi does not have majority in the house and added that the Governor should have been quick in taking the decision over Bihar politics. Meanwhile, President of JD (U) unit in Bihar, Basistha Narayan Singh said that the ministers did not resign from their post even after being directed to do so by the party, which is why they were suspended. Patna, Feb 15 (ANI): The Janata Dal (United) workers staged a protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday and blamed him for the political instability in Bihar. The protestors raised slogans against Prime Minister Modi and also burnt his effigy. Former Bihar chief minister and senior JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar had earlier accused Prime Minister Modi and the BJP of 'attempting to throttle democracy'. Arvind Kejriwal takes charge as the Chief Minister of Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday took charge as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Earlier in the day, he took oath as the 8th Chief Minister of Delhi at the Ramlila Maidan. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung. Along with Kejriwal, six other Aam Aadmi Party leaders - Manish Sisodia, Asim Ahmed Khan, Sandeep Kumar, Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai and Jitender Singh Tomar were also sworn-in as cabinet ministers.
