President receives copy of 'Encyclopedia of Hinduism'

New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday received a copy of the Encyclopedia of Hinduism at a function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Auditorium. The President complimented Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji of the Parmarth Niketan Rishikesh, the founder-chairman of India Heritage Research Foundation (IHRF) for undertaking the effort to bring out the encyclopedia. Present at the event were also LK Advani, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Uma Bharti. The Encyclopedia, a compendium of thousands of years of history, science, art, architecture, polity, religion, philosophy and culture, took 25 years to complete.

Politicos on stranded Indian citizens in Iraq

New Delhi, June 19 (ANI): Political leaders on Thursday gave mixed reactions on 40 Indians kidnapped in Iraq during the ongoing crisis. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that the government should have realized the situation earlier as the crisis was going on since a long time. CPI leader Atul Anjan stated that the Indian government should keep one of its airplanes at Baghdad Airport to help the Indians come back to their country. RJD leader Manoj Jha said that the new government should have taken the initial step of preventing the Indian nationals from being affected by Iraq crisis. Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar said that he has confidence in the Foreign Ministry that it will put in all possible efforts to rescue the Indians.

Politicians clamour for Nihal Chand's resignation

New Delhi, June 18 (ANI): Political leaders across parties have slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for failing to take any action against Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Nihal Chand, who is an accused in a rape case of a married woman. The court in Jaipur, Rajasthan had summoned Chand and 17 others after a 20-year-old woman filed a complaint accusing her husband and his friends, including the minister, in a sexual assault case. Meanwhile, the woman has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack Chand. She claims she is receiving threats and that she was promised a job in return for withdrawing the case.
