New Delhi, March 01 (ANI): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday took a jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party workers celebrating the formation of a coalition government with the PDP in the state. Posting a picture of jubilant BJP workers bursting crackers and distributing sweets in Raipur on his twitter account, Omar asked, "But what about PDP workers in Kashmir??? Or just thanking Pak for JK election," he added. Omar had earlier come down heavily on newly elected Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for stating that the Hurriyat, Pakistan and militants had allowed a conducive atmosphere for the recent assembly polls in the state. BJP to hold parliamentary meet over Land Acquisition Ordinance

New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold a parliamentary board meeting for the second time on Tuesday (February 24) over the land acquisition ordinance. The first meeting earlier in the day, before the parliament session began, was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani. Minister of State for parliamentary affairs, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, told media the leaders of BJP and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will meet in the evening to deliberate on the issues on how to make the land acquisition bill more effective for the farmers. Earlier in the day the government introduced in the lower house of the parliament the controversial Land Acquisition Amendment Bill 2015 amid vociferous protests by the opposition. The government said it will hold discussions one more time to bring all parties on board with its plan. BJP hopes to iron out differences with PDP on AFSPA

New Delhi/ Jammu, Feb 19 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party said on Thursday that proper discussions are important before reaching a conclusion on the revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Jammu and Kashmir. Many civil rights activist and political parties like Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and National Conference (NC) have long been demanding to revoke AFSPA. However, the army has opposed their demands saying they are not even in favour of "partially withdrawing" the rule as it is essential to root out militants. PDP wants AFSPA removed while BJP is strongly against Article 370, which accords special status to Jammu and Kashmir. This could make the tie-up between the two parties uneasy. However, BJP is hopeful of resolving all differences and moving ahead on a positive note.
