India-Bangladesh launch Joint Retreat Ceremony on eastern international border

West Bengal, Nov 07 (ANI): India and Bangladesh launched a Joint Retreat Ceremony at the Petrapole-Benapole border outpost at the eastern international border. Petrapole is located some 120-km north of Kolkata in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Benapole is the Bangladeshi side of the border. The ceremony includes parades, march-past and lowering of the national flag of both the countries and will henceforth be a daily routine, at sundown, on the eastern border. Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, who attended the Ceremony, said Bangladesh and India share the same culture and heritage and the Joint Retreat will help both countries strengthen their ties. Shinde also said taht India has already initiated steps to simplify visa rules for businessmen, students and those seeking medical treatment as well as signing of the Extradition treaties. AgustaWestland deal: Italian middleman Haschke arrested on charges of bribery

New Delhi, Oct 18 (ANI): Swiss authorities have arrested alleged middleman Guido Ralph Haschke, on charges of bribery, in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal. 63-year-old Haschke, who claims to provide 'project advisory services' could be brought to Italy by next week in case he prefers not to appeal against extradition proceedings. As per an Italian news agency, a court in Switzerland has ruled that Haschke can be extradited to Italy. Haschke was briefly arrested by Swiss authorities in October, 2012 in connection with the probe but he denied any wrongdoing. The Italian and Indian agencies have been probing the Rs 3600 crore helicopter contract for alleged kickbacks to Indian officials. Oct 18, 2013
