SAARC culture ministers' meet in New Delhi to chart out 2014-17 action plan

New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): India hosted the third meeting of the SAARC Culture Ministers to chart a roadmap for cultural ties in the region for 2014-17, which aims at promoting multilateral cooperation in the field of cultural relations by South Asia in the backdrop of a common heritage linking the eight- member grouping. Highlight of the meeting was setting up of a Delhi Declaration to chart a roadmap for cultural ties in the region for 2014-17. The major activities envisaged in the agenda include strengthening of cultural institutions in member-countries, cultural festivals in the region, preservation and conservation practices and promoting literacy and reading habits. Confirmations have been received that the Culture Ministers of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and India would participate in the deliberations. New Delhi, Sep 23 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday highlighted the schedule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United States for enhancing bilateral relations. MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin stated that Prime Minister Modi will be meeting UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon before addressing United Nations' General Assembly Session. Akbaruddin said that Prime Minister will be meeting US President Barrack Obama and former President Bill Clinton during his visit. He also said that Modi will pay homage to the 9/11 memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King Memorial & Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Washington. India collaborates with Sweden promoting environmentally sustainable transport

Bangalore, Sept 23 (ANI): India collaborates with Sweden on promoting environmentally sustainable transport (EST) which will lead to accomplish safe, reliable, affordable, efficient, people-centric and environment friendly transport system. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the workshop on "the way to sustainable transport: an Indo-Swedish perspective". Swedish Envoy to India Harald Sandberg and senior advisor to Sweden trade minister, Ambassador Jonas Hafstrom, were also present at the event in the country's IT hub of Bangalore. The aim of their visit is to identify areas within transport and urban planning with potential for further collaboration between the two countries. Calling for best practices and planning for transforming Indian cities and towns safe for all, Siddaramaiah said the workshop will foster economical, social and environmental developments. The visit by the transport delegation from Sweden is a reciprocal visit to strengthen the bilateral relation between Sweden and India and aims to integrate developing countries in the world economy and contribute in the eradication of poverty. New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, on Saturday met his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi to discuss bilateral and regional issues.
