Arun Jaitley presents Delhi Budget in Lok Sabha Part - 1

New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday presented the budget for New Delhi in the Lok Sabha. Laying stress on the major points, Jaitley said that this year no new taxes shall be levied on the people of Delhi. He then said that new medical colleges, multi speciality hospital, girls' high schools and remote ambulances shall be introduced in many areas. The Finance Minister also proposed to set up community toilets under JJ cluster in areas lacking toilets. Arun Jaitley to present Delhi_s budget

New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will present the Delhi_s budget in parliament on Friday as the city assembly has been kept under suspended animation and the President Rule is in force. Ahead of presentation of Delhi_s budget by Jaitley, the city unit of BJP urged him to provide power subsidy to consumers. Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay urged Jaitley to grant Rs 800 crore as power subsidy saying people are burdened with very heavy electricity bills. The Sheila Dikshit government had provided subsidy of Rs 1 per unit for consumption between 0-200 units and 200-400 units for several years. In the union budget, Jaitley had allocated Rs 700 crore to Delhi to help overcome the problem of power transmission and water distribution system. Jaitley had proposed Rs 500 crore for reform in the water sector while Rs 200 crore has been set aside for reform in the power sector. Jul 18, 2014

New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Both Houses of Parliament witnessed regular disturbances on Tuesday, with an unrelenting opposition demanding an explanation from the NDA Government on journalist Ved Prakash Vaidik_s meeting with 26/11 terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed nearly two weeks ago. In the Lok Sabha, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj reiterated that it was completely unfair and wrong on the part of the opposition and the Congress Party in particular to blame the government directly for allegedly facilitating the meeting between Vaidik and Saeed. She said that Vaidik had acted in his individual capacity, and that the government had absolutely no role to play in facilitating the trip or the meeting. Last rites of senior journalist Jehangir Pocha performed in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 12 (ANI): The last rites of senior journalist and editor-in-chief of News X channel Jehangir Pocha were performed at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi on Saturday evening. Pocha passed away in Gurgaon on Saturday morning due to cardiac arrest. He was co-founder of IndiMedia Pvt Ltd, which owns the news channel NewsX. Defence and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was also present among some eminent leaders at the ceremony.
