New Delhi, Oct 27 (ANI): Chief of Indian Army, General Dalbir Singh Suhag, and senior serving officers laid wreaths at the Amar Jawan Jyoti on Monday (October 27) in New Delhi on the occasion of Infantry Day. Infantry Day, which is observed on October 27 every year, marks the landing of the first paramilitary battalion at Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir to guard the valley from the attack and invasion of the Pakistan army. Separatists call for shutdown in Kashmir to protest PM Modi's visit

Srinagar, Oct 23 (ANI): Separatists called for a complete shutdown on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir to protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on Diwali. Modi will arrive in Siachen and interact with soldiers before heading to Kashmir to celebrate the Diwali with flood-hit victims. All shops, business establishments and government offices across the valley were closed on the call of Kashmir separatist leader of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani. The police and security forces have been deployed at vital places to prevent any militant attack or demonstration by protesters. BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the separatist are very isolated group and doesn’t have the power to change people’s thinking. BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh said that the separatist have a realization that promotion of militancy is going to stop in the valley and hence they are nervous and calling for shutdown. Tourism picks up in Kashmir after worst flooding

Srinagar, Oct 22 (ANI): Tourists from across the world started visiting Jammu and Kashmir after worst floods in a century wrecked havoc in the region. Both the Indian and Pakistani sides of the disputed Himalayan region saw extensive flooding last month with Srinagar particularly hard hit. Hundreds of people were killed and tens of thousands are homeless. However, the tourism industry has again picked up after the disaster and tourists in Srinagar city say the beauty of the valley remains the same even after the floods. Kashmir flood victims urge government to start rehabilitation work

Rajouri, Oct 20 (ANI): Flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir urged the Central government to start rehabilitation work in the devastated valley on a war footing. Residents had pinned hopes on Modi government for help in bringing the flood ravaged state of Jammu and Kashmir back on track. A legislator of Rajouri region, Choudhary Zulakar Ali, appealed to the Central government to look into the matter seriously. Both Indian and Pakistani sides of the state have seen extensive flooding last month with Srinagar particularly hard hit. Hundreds of people have been killed and tens of thousands are homeless. A flood victim, Abdul Rasheed, also urged the government to rehabilitate the displaced people in the region. Many complain that the government has left them to their fate.
