Nation pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 66th death anniversary

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): The Nation on Thursday paid homage to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 66th death anniversary. Prominent leaders from various political parties and other dignitaries paid floral tributes at his Samadhi at Rajghat in the national capital. A series of functions are being organized throughout the country to mark the occasion. Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar. A lawyer by profession, Gandhi led the struggle for India's independence from British rule by following the path of non-violence. Ironically, Gandhi was shot dead by a Hindu fanatic, Nathuram Godse, at a prayer meeting in Delhi on January 30, 1948, less than a year after India became independent. Jan 30, 2014

Danish woman gang-rape case: Two accused sent to police custody

New Delhi, Jan 17 (ANI): A Delhi court sent two suspects to police custody till Jan 20, who were accused in the gang rape and robbery of a 51-year-old Danish tourist in the national capital. The tourist was robbed of her cash, iPad and telephone. She refused a medical examination and has since left India to return to Denmark, police said. Acting on a tip off, police nabbed two suspects and recovered some belongings from them. New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice on the writ petition filed by a law intern to all the respondents including former judge, Swatanter Kumar, who has been accused of sexual harassment. The young law graduate had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against Kumar, seeking an enquiry and forum into the case.
