Srinagar, July 27 (ANI): Government of Jammu and Kashmir in partnership with Department of Forest organised horse auction on Sunday during tourism season to aid pony owners. The auction took place in Qamerwari forest office at the out skirts of Srinagar city, mainly for the benefit of pony owners. This summer, tourism is at its peak during this time of the month in Srinagar valley and the holy Amarnath Yatra is also going on with full spirit. So tourists and pilgrims who visit Pahalgam, Sonamarg and Gulmarg generally require the pony services. A pony owner, Nazir Ahmad welcomed the auction. Jul 27, 2014

Amarnath Yatra spurs tourism in Kashmir as well

Srinagar, July 26 (ANI): The Hindu cave shrine of Amarnath, located in a Himalayan glacial valley, spurred tourism in Kashmir as pilgrims throng the mountainous terrain during the ongoing pilgrimage. The holy Amarnath cave is situated at a height of approximately 4,000 meters, which has four ice formations considered figurines of different Hindu gods. Amarnath is a 150 feet high and 90 feet long cave located nearly 145 km from summer capital, Srinagar. Pilgrims are not only going to the shrine, but are also coming in large numbers to take a trip of the valley and enjoy the picturesque views, grasp the freshness of the meadows, the hills and the rivers and to beat the heat. The Amaranth yatra started on June 28 this year and since then, famous tourist spots in the state, including summer capital Srinagar, Gulmarg district, Pahalgam, and Sonmarg have witnessed travellers from around the country.
