Jammu and Kashmir, Aug 26 (ANI): At least three soldiers and five militants were killed in two separate encounters that have been going on intermittently since Saturday in Kupwara district of Kashmir. In a fresh ongoing encounter in Kalaroos area of Kupwara district on Tuesday, one jawan lost his life. A DGMO level talks between India and Pakistan is to take place today where Indian Army is likely to raise the issue of ceasefire violations to their Pakistani counterparts. Meanwhile, continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the international border drew ire of villagers, who have to run in the midnight to save their lives. Villagers along Indo-Pak border under constant threat as ceasefire violations continue

Jammu, Aug 25 (ANI): As the ceasefire violations by Pakistan continues along the Indo-Pak international border, villagers in Kashmir live under constant fear and shadow of death. Pakistan army continued to violate the ceasefire on the Indian border in the intervening night of August 24 and August 25 in the RS Pura area of Jammu district. Villagers in the bordering areas say that are moving out of the area due to constant threat to their lives. A villager in RS Pura sector sustained injury by midnight shelling from Pakistani troops and is admitted in a nearby hospital. Earlier on Sunday, two separate encounters at Keran sector and Kalaroos of the state killed four militants and two soldiers while three army men, including an officer, sustained injuries. Mathura, August 22 (ANI): Thousands of devotees soaked in devotion thronged birthplace of Lord Krishna in Uttar Pradesh on Monday to celebrate his birth anniversary. Chanting hymns and carrying religious offerings, people flocked temples dedicated to the Hindu god in Mathura to mark the festival of Janamashtmi with pageantry. The priests performed rituals in the temples to mark 5240th birthday of Lord Krishna. A devotee, Nishi Khurana, said she was elated to visit Mathura to be a part of the celebration. Lord Krishna is regarded as the eighth incarnation of the Hindu deity 'Vishnu', the Preserver of the Universe. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Krishna was born at the midnight hour on this day. Another devotee, Goldy Khurana, said Mathura reverberated with a different kind of enthusiasm when it came to celebrate Janamashtmi. According to the Hindu calendar, Janmashtami is observed on the Ashtami Tithi, which is the eighth day of the month of Bhadrapada (sixth month of the Hindu calendar year) in the Hindu almanac. The event involves creating a human pyramid and breaking the Handi that contains curd. Devotees were heard chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Rama. This time the organisers used the technique of rock climbing to prevent any untoward incident. It is believed that Lord Krishna was born at the midnight hours. Petrol prices to be reduced by Rs.2.18 per litre from Friday

New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): The Indian Oil Corporation will reduce petrol prices by Rs.2.18 per litre in Delhi from Friday post-midnight. The price of petrol in the capital will be Rs.70.33 per litre. The cut in the retail price of petrol is about three percent. The Company also said that the cut is being undertaken owing to a reduction in international crude oil prices. Three state-run fuel retailers - IOC, BPCL and HPCL - tend to move their prices together. Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted, _Price of Petrol will be reduced from midnight of 14/15 August 2014 in the range of Rs.1.89-2.38 (Rs 2.18/litre at Delhi)._ The price of petrol was last reduced by Rs.1.09 per litre on July 31, while the price of diesel was hiked by 50 paise per litre.
