Vishakhapatnam, Aug 23 (ANI): Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday commissioned India's first indigenously-built stealth anti-submarine warfare INS Kamorta at naval dockyard in Vishakhapatnam. Jaitley also received the guard of honour at the event. The warship has been built by the state-owned Gardenreach Shipbuilders in Kolkata and is the first vessel in the Navy whose all weapon systems are manufactured indigenously. It will form part of the Vishakhapatnam-based Eastern Command. Kamorta has enhanced stealth features that make her less susceptible to detection. Aug 23, 2014

Delhi gangrape victims parents condemn Jaitleys remark on rape affecting tourism

New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): Delhi Gangrape victim’s parents on Friday condemned Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s remark that Delhi gangrape case has affected tourism in the state. Victim’s father said that Jaitley’s remark is condemnable as he thinks the case to be affecting an industry but does not do anything to solve it. He added that Jaitley should change policies of economy and security in the country in order to attract tourists, not play politics over rape cases. The victim’s mother also condemned Jaitley’s remark saying that if he considers that rape has caused loss to tourism, he should also realize the loss which the incident caused to the family who lost their daughter. Giving clarification over his remark, Jaitley said that his speech was misconstrued and he was not referring to any particular crime but crimes in general. Incidents of rape cost billions to tourism industry, says Finance Minister

New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley took on rapes terming country_s tourist sector as _underachieved_ and said such incidents have cost billions of dollars to the tourism industry. While addressing a conference of state tourism ministers in New Delhi on Thursday Jaitley said that due to several reasons, including rapes and law and order situation, the tourism sector is not blooming as much as it should. Jaitley focused on the massive potential India has in tourism and said due to presence of mountains, rivers, forests, beaches, historical monuments, and metro cities in the subcontinent, the country should be overcrowded with tourists. He also said that India_s domestic transport system - roads and railways - and international transport is not upto the mark and needs to be improved tremendously. New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): Following India's 3-1 Test series loss to England, the BCCI cracked the whip on Tuesday by sidelining team coach Duncan Fletcher and asking the bowling and fielding coaches to go on leave. It asked former Test cricketer and now commentator Ravi Shastri to assume charge of the team as director for the five match ODI series. The five-match ODI series against England will get underway in Bristol from August 25.
