Activist-lawyer Shehzad Poonawala, who had petitioned against AAP leader Bharti in connection with the case, welcomed the move and said that it is now to witness if Kejriwal will apologize and will sack Bharti from the party or not. IPL Spot-fixing case: Gavaskar to replace Srinivasan as BCCI interim President

New Delhi, March 28 (ANI): Supreme Court on Friday pronounced that Sunil Gavaskar will replace N Srinivasan to take up the post of interim president of the BCCI. The Supreme Court gave three interim orders to the BCCI, that is, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings will not take part in IPL 7 tournament, Gavaskar replacing Srinivasan, and all India Cements employess be removed from BCCI. Centre in favour of Bhullars death sentence commuted to life imprisonment

New Delhi, March 27 (ANI): Giving relief to Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, the Centre finally agreed on Thursday for commuting his death penalty into life imprisonment on the basis of delay of 18 years in mercy petition. Lawyer KTS Tulsi said that the Attorney general had agreed to the same citing the reason of the delay in the case. SC demands Gavaskar to be BCCI interim president & Srinivasan removed

New Delhi, March 27 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday proposed the name of Sunil Gavaskar as interim BCCI President replacing N Srinivasan till it gives the final verdict in the IPL Spot-fixing case. The SC also said that Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will not be part of the upcoming IPL 7 and that any person involved with India Cements should alos be refrained from functioning in the BCCI. Prashant Bhushan lauds EC's decision to defer gas price hike

New Delhi, Mar 25 (ANI): Lawyer and AAP leader Prashant Bhushan on Tuesday welcomed the move of the Indian Election Commission asking the central government to defer the proposal to hike gas prices which was set to come into effect from April 01 prior to the parliament polls scheduled for next month. A price increase had been due to come into effect on April 1, just days before India starts voting in an election that starts on April 7 and will end on May 12. Bhushan, said that such a catastrophic decision by the government would only help bigwigs like Reliance fill their pockets and would lead the country to face losses. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, who briefly controlled the state government in New Delhi, last month called for a criminal investigation into government officials and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani over the matter. Kejriwal had also called for the Election Commission to stall the price rise. Bhushan also hailed AAP for its initiative, but condemned the main opposition, Bharatiya Janata Party, for not opposing the hike when it was declared and accused it of being in the pockets of Reliance. New Delhi, March 25 (ANI): In a major blow to the BCCI, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said that its view board President N Srinivasan should step down so as the fair probe to take place. The apex court made the observations while taking up the Justice Mukul Mudgal-led committee report on corruption charges against Chennai Super Kings, Gurunath Meiyappan and Rajasthan Royals team owners. Mumbai, Mar 21 (ANI): The Shakti Mill gangrape case ended in victory for the telephone operator while the hearing for the photojournalist's case has been adjourned till March 24. All the four convicts who were accused of raping an 18-year old telephone operator in July have been sentenced to life imprisonment. A sessions court in Mumbai had on Thursday convicted all the four accused in the Shakti Mill photojournalist gangrape case of August 22, 2013 and also the four accused in another gangrape case of a telephone operator.
