Police hunt for gunman after elderly woman killed at monks retirement home in Montpellier

French police are hunting for an armed man following an attack at a home for retired missionaries in Montferrier-sur-Lez in the south of France. A caretaker managed to call the police around 10:30pm on 24 November after being attacked and tied up by an unknown man. When police arrived at the scene the body of a woman was found with stab wounds.The motive for the attack is as yet unknown but so far has not been linked to terrorism. Around 70 former missionaries, who worked in Africa, who were in the home, were unhurt. Nov 25, 2016

Brendan Cox, the husband of murdered MP Jo Cox, has said he feels pity for her killer Thomas Mair. The Labour MP was stabbed and shot in her Batley and Spen constituency on 16 June, one week ahead of the EU referendum.
