Chinese record-breaking sailors yacht found near Honolulu with no one on board

The US Coast Guard have found a yacht of Chinese sailor Guo Chuan with no one on deck. The 51-year-old sailor was attempting to break the record for fastest solo crossing of the Pacific but the ground navigation team became concerned when they didnt hear form him. The coast guard deployed two planes and two ships in the search and found the 97ft super trimaran Qingdao China drifting near Honolulu. Oct 27, 2016

But she and her navigator went missing over the Pacific Ocean in 1937, four months into a daring trip around the globe. For the past 22 years researchers have been trying to figure out what happened to her, and now The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR) believe she had run out of fuel, so crash-landed on an uninhabited island and lived as a castaway.
