PM Modi meets top management of POSCO

New Delhi, Jan 20 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of multi-national steel making company, POSCO, Kwon Oh-joon and its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Gee Woong Sung in New Delhi on Tuesday (January 20). Modi also met ambassador of South Korea Joon-Gyu-Lee. Posco's $12 billion steel plant in eastern Odisha state is the largest single foreign direct investment (FDI) project in India. POSCO officials say the company came to India to have a strong base in an emerging economy as its presence in China was below expectations. Bangladesh activists hit out at former PM for her association with party accused of 1971 war crimes

Dhaka, Jan 20 (ANI): Bangladesh journalists and political activists hit out at former Prime Minister and leader of the opposition, Begum Khaleda Zia for her association with an Islamist party that is accused of war crimes. Zia had allied with Jamaat-e-Islami and formed the government with it. The tribunal has convicted 16 people, most of them Jamaat leaders, and sentenced 14 of them to death. One Islamist politician was executed in December 2013. An Islamist party leader was sentenced to death in December 2014 after war crime tribunal convicted him of atrocities. ATM Azharul Islam, 62, assistant secretary general of the Jamaat-e-Islami party, was found guilty of five out of six charges including the murder of hundreds of minority Hindus, rape, abduction and torture, prosecutors said. Bangladesh PM hits out at BNP Chief Khaleda Zia

Dhaka, Jan 13 (ANI): Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took a dig at chief of opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Khaleda Zia, and said she was a leader of militancy and terror. The prime minister said that the trial of war criminals would continue and no one can obstruct it. She also said that Khaleda held countrymen hostage in the name of blockade. Bangladesh stepped up a crackdown on BNP, arresting its vice-president amid anti-government protests that left seven dead and injured hundreds. Khaleda has demanded that Hasina give up her post, with a new vote to be held under a neutral administration. Greenpeace activist Priya Pillai offloaded from Delhi-London flight, says it's a 'bullying tactic' b

New Delhi, Jan 12 (ANI): Greenpeace India Senior Campaigner Priya Pillai was allegedly stopped at IGI Airport from boarding a flight to London. Pillai while speaking on the issue said that she was stopped at the immigration counter despite having a valid visa and her passport was stamped with "offloaded." She added that she was on her way to meet a group on tribal affairs and another on Indo-British relations and wasn supposed to talk on the Mahan coal block issue and its impact on tribals. She further stated that the whole process is a 'bullying tactic' by the government. Greenpeace India has written to MEA and Airport Authority of India about barring Pillai and has asked the government to explain the legal basis for the ban on her leaving the country. Jan 12, 2015
