Modi writes to Malaysian PM, condoles the loss of lives on board MH17

New Delhi, July 20 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato Sri Mohammad Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, expressing his condolences on the loss of lives on board MH17. The Prime Minister said there is "justifiable outrage across the world and India fully supports efforts for an investigation that can help establish the exact circumstances" in which the incident took place. The Prime Minister also referred to the tragedy that befell Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 some months ago, mentioning that there is "still no closure" on that incident. A Malaysian airliner enroute to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam carrying 295 people on board was reportedly shot down in Ukraine near the Russian border. Jul 20, 2014

Bangladesh students form human chain to protest Israeli attacks on Palestine

Dhaka, July 14 (ANI): Students in Bangladesh formed a human chain on Monday to protest Israel’s air strikes in Gaza, which killed at least 160 people and forced thousands to flee. Students along with members of Dhaka University took to streets and shouted slogans against Israeli attacks. On Sunday, the Israeli military warned the residents of the northern border town of Beit Lahiya to leave or risk their lives when, after nightfall, it planned to intensify air strikes against suspected Palestinian rocket launchers among civilian homes. Politicos on Vaidik-Hafiz Saeed meet

New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): Political leaders on Monday reacted over Ramdev's close aide and senior journalist Ved Pratap Vaidak's meeting with 26/11 terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed. BJP leader and Union Broadcast and Information Minister Prakash Javadekar said that Vaidak's meeting with Hafiz Saeed has nothing to do with the government, and added that the whole issue was a politicization of terrorism. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that a journalist has to meet a lot of people in his profession, and that there should not be any controversy over Vaidak's meeting with Saeed. Meanwhile, Congress said that the government should give clarification over the issue. Meanwhile, the opposition Congress Party created an uproar in the Rajya Sabha over the issue. Though the government clarified that it had nothing to do with it, Congress members, including Anand Sharma continued to insist on the statement saying the matter is related to the security concerns of the country.
