India-Bhutan friendship car rally kicks off in Siliguri

Siliguri, Feb 04 (ANI): The three-day long Indo-Bhutan car rally covering Himalayan ranges kicked off on Wednesday (February 04) from Siliguri town in West Bengal. The rally has been organized by Friendship Car Rally Association of India and Bhutan Friendship Association to strengthen relations between the two neighbours. The car rally, which is being held after two years gap, would cover a distance of 850 kilometers and would culminate in Bhutan's capital, Thimphu. Twenty participants from India and ten from Bhutan are taking part in this mega event. The extremely challenging route of pristine foothills and forests crisscrossed by rivers and mountain streams and high Himalayan passes of altitude of up to 13000 feet make the drive thoroughly adventurous. Pakistani envoy hopes to bolster fragile ties with India through trade

New Delhi, Feb 03 (ANI): Pakistan ambassador to India, Abdul Basit hoped that some progress in trade ties between the two countries would help bolster a fragile peace process between the nuclear armed neighbours. Basit said that India needs to be flexible when it comes to Pakistan in terms of non-tariff barriers to trade. Basit also accused India of hardening its stand on Jammu and Kashmir when bilateral trade between the countries had seen a rise.
