New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay met Indian President Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi in a bid to boost bilateral relations between the two nations. Earlier in the day, Tobgay met Vice President Hamid Ansari, Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh and Trade Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. His visit will impart further content and momentum to the close partnership between India and Bhutan. Tobgay is also scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and have official engagements with other senior members of the cabinet. India lauds Bangladesh security forces for acting against militants

Agartala, Jan 06 (ANI): A top police official in Tripura lauded the efforts of Bangladesh security forces in cracking down on militants operating in the country's northeastern region. Most of the rebels battling Indian security forces in the northeast have set up bases in neighbouring Bangladesh. Director General of Police (DGP) of Tripura, K Nagraj, said the state succeeded in neutralising several militant outfits due to cooperation from Bangladesh. Nagraj said Bangladeshi security forces have destroyed several camps of the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition. Siliguri, Dec 30 (ANI): The Tribal community in West Bengal on staged protest against militant attacks in Assam that killed at least 80 people. Police believe that a faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), fighting for a separate state for ethnic Bodos, was behind coordinated attacks on tea plantation workers and their families in Assam last week, the deadliest in years. Protesters from Adivasi Socio-Educational Association (ASEA) took to streets in Siliguri city and demanded for action against the militants. Secretary of Darjeeling wing ASEA committee, Trinath Murmu, said that they were demanding immediate action by the government to maintain peace in the region. Sonitpur, Dec 30 (ANI): Police in Assam arrested a suspect behind coordinated militant attacks on tea plantation workers and their families that killed at least 80 people, the deadliest in years. The suspect has been identified as Suklai Basumtari, who is accused of having links with National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB). Police believe that a faction of NDFB, fighting for a separate state for ethnic Bodos, was behind the attacks. Police arrested him from Biswanath Chariali town in Sonitpur district under operation named, 'All Out'. Meanwhile, several media groups appealed people to donate relief materials to victims in relief camps in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur.
