PM Modi meets Russian defence minister to deepen bilateral cooperation

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu in New Delhi to deepen bilateral cooperation. Shoygu arrived in New Delhi for his three-day India visit to review the ongoing cooperation and future prospects in defence sector between the two countries. He is also scheduled to hold talks with his Indian counterpart Manohar Parrikar later in the day. Besides, the defence minister will also attend a session of Russian-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Technical Cooperation and visit the Russian-Indian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace Limited that makes supersonic cruise missiles. PM Modi meets Myanmar's Vice President Sai Mauk Kham to improve bilateral relations

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Vice President of Myanmar, Sai Mauk Kham met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. Kham arrived in India on Monday on a five day visit to improve the bilateral relations between the two countries. Accompanying Kham on his visit is a high-level delegation of cabinet ministers and senior officials Through this visit, both the countries are aiming to improve physical connectivity and economic links. Reportedly India is keen on expanding its commercial footprint across Myanmar. Kham is scheduled to hold meetings with other top leaders of India including President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. Rijiju asks Pakistan to follow US, UK advice over handover of Lakhvi

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju has asked Pakistan to handover 2008 Mumbai attacks mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi to New Delhi, as has also been advised by the United States of America and the United Kingdom to do so. A section of media had reported earlier that the US and the UK have asked Pakistan to either hand over Lakhvi to India to improve bilateral ties or to conduct a credible and independent trial. New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): German Finance Minister, Wolfgang Schauble, said the euro zone has overcome a lack of confidence and is working to boost growth, but emerging nations should take the lead in reviving the global economy, in a seminar at New Delhi. Schauble, who is on a two-day India visit, to enhance bilateral economic relations, addressed a seminar entitled "Europe and India in the face of Globalisation" hosted by the Indian business group Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) where he reassured India that the euro zone is not about to lurch into a fresh crisis. Asked about the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Schaeuble said whole of Europe has faced a lot of problems with Russia, but the most problems are faced by Russia itself. Europe would "deliver its fair contribution" to global growth, Schauble also said, while calling on emerging economies like India to make a bigger contribution. PM Modi meets German finance minister to boost bilateral ties

New Delhi, Jan 20 (ANI): Prime Minster Narendra Modi met German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schuble, who is on a two-day India visit, to enhance bilateral economic relations. The meeting was described as a courtesy call by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). Earlier in the day, Schuble, at a meeting with businessmen at Confederation of India (CII) expressed keen interest in working with India on the manufacturing sector, especially in the auto and solar energy industries. Schuble's announcement of the German manufacturing industry's readiness to participate in Modi's 'Make in India' policy comes after US Secretary of State John Kerry brought up worries of the Obama administration over the initiative.
