Indian cinema beyond the confines of Hindi language: Amitabh Bachchan as IFFI kicks off in Goa

Panaji, Nov 21 (ANI): Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan endorsed the pan-Indian identity portrayed in cinema at the 11-day International Film Festival of India (IFFI) that kicked-off in the beach state of Goa. The event was inaugurated at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium in Bambolim and offers a wide variety of 110 films including 28 Oscar entries. Speaking at the event, Bachchan, also the guest of honour, said Goa had a special place in his life as he went down the memory lane recalling his first film, 'Saat Hindustani', portraying struggle of seven Indians to liberate Goa from the Portuguese colonial rule. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said cinema enlightens people many fold compared to the regular educational institutions. Arun Jaitley launches 'Kisan Vikas Patra' to lure small investors

New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday re-launched a certificate savings scheme in New Delhi to encourage investment for country's development. In a bid to encourage small savings among citizens, the successful scheme known as 'Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP)' or Farmer's Development Letter was re-launched. KVP are certificates issued by government of India that can be availed in the denominations of rupees 500, rupees 1,000, rupees 5,000 and rupees 10,000 at all post offices across India. Jaitley said that this scheme was intended to keep small investors away from fraudulent schemes that make attractive bids. Meanwhile, the investment made in the certificate scheme will double in 100 months and certificates can be issued in single or joint names and is transferable. The certificate can also be pledged as security to avail loans from the banks. Nov 18, 2014

Jaitley was speaking at the second edition of Services Conclave in New Delhi. He also laid emphasis on services sector exports to compensate for the deficit in the merchandise exports.
