Road accident kills four hawkers in Patna

Patna, Oct 3 (ANI): Four people were mowed to death and four others were injured by a car which hit the hawkers sitting along the side of a road in Patna on Friday. Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Patna, Amit Kumar, said that an Indica car hit the people near Mahavir Cancer Institute at Phulwarisharif area. Reportedly, the car driver has been detained by the police. A hawker, Mohammad Alam, witnessed the incident that took place early in the morning. Oct 3, 2014

Bangladesh minister offers to restore abandoned railway lines with India

Agartala, Sep 26 (ANI): Bangladesh's Railway Minister Mohammad Mazibul Hoque offered to restore the abandoned railway links with India that existed before the partition to boost trade and people-to-people contact. Hoque said that he had few steps for fast implementation of Akhaurah-Agartala rail connectivity which was a very key project and both the nations were serious about it. Gulmarg, Sep 21 (ANI): Floods mayhem in Jammu and Kashmir badly affected the tourism industry resulting in disrupting the livelihood of local businessmen. Both the Indian and Pakistani sides of the disputed Himalayan region have seen extensive flooding this month, with Srinagar particularly hard hit. Hundreds of people have been killed and tens of thousands are homeless. A Gondola Cable Car Employee in Gulmarg hill station, Mohammad Ashraf, said on Sunday that the devastation due to floods in the entire valley has scared tourists. Over 40 families lose their homes in Kashmir due to rain triggered landslides

Rajouri, Sept 17 (ANI): Over 40 families in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir are hit by the devastating recent landslides triggered by heavy rains, currently stationed at makeshift army tents and have to face harsh weather conditions ahead. Many complain they have been abandoned by authorities which have deployed security throughout the region to quell possible social unrest as a result of the floods. Residents stranded for days by the worst rains said that the army has selectively evacuated tourists and people according to a pre-set priority list, leaving locals to be rescued later by volunteers. Poor say they are still struggling for basic amenities like safe drinking water, food packets and blankets. A flood victim, Mohammad Anwer said that the army had provided them with few makeshift tents to stay but their belongings were lost and there was no food or drinking water. Sep 17, 2014
