Imran Masood out on bail, denies giving hate speech against Modi

Saharanpur, April 04 (ANI): Congress leader Imran Masood, denied knowledge of giving provocative speech against BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi after he was released on bail. A court in Uttar Pradesh remanded Masood, to 14-day judicial custody on Saturday after police arrested him for publicly threatening to murder Modi, post an FIR filed against him accused him of violating the election code of conduct. A criminal case was also registered against Masood, who is Congress party candidate from Saharanpur, after a video of him threatening Modi went viral on the web.

Congress urges EC to take action against BJP for distorting facts in Masood case

New Delhi/ Ranchi, March 31 (ANI): AICC legal cell Secretary KC Mittal urged the Election Commission to take steps against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for violating the model code of conduct and for distorting facts in Imran Masood's case. A court in Uttar Pradesh remanded Congress leader Imran Masood, to 14-day judicial custody on Saturday after police arrested him for publicly threatening to murder BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. The FIR accused Masood of violating the election code of conduct. A BJP delegation led by BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi approached the Election Commission demanding cancellation of Masood's candidature from Saharanpur.

Unable to pay Rs 10,000 crore to secure Subrata Roy's release: Sahara tells SC

New Delhi, March 27 (ANI): Sahara group Chief Subrata Roy will likely remain in judicial custody till 3 April as the group informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that it is unable to pay Rs.10,000 crore for his release. On Thursday, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of Roy's bail plea after the Sahara group sought lowering the amount of guarantees set for its chief Roy's release on bail. The Sahara counsel told the court that the bail amount is too high and "the net worth of Subrata Roy and Sahara companies is much less than the bail amount that has been demanded".

Police destroy Maoist camp, seize arms and ammunitions in Odisha

Gajapati, March 21 (ANI): Following tip offs from rebels under police custody, the police in Gajapati district of Odisha destroyed a Maoist camp and seized a huge cache of arms, ammunitions and explosives. The police initiated a raid in Maoist hideouts in the forests of Salimagochha and Therubadi in Gajapati district after receiving primary information from three female Maoists under custody, Nikita, Anita and Susan who were arrested from a camp on February 28. Police seized three rifles, a tiffin bomb, two magazines and more than 160 rounds of live cartridges.

SC rejects Sahara's repayment proposal, Subrata Roy to stay in jail

New Delhi, March 07 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday rejected Sahara Group's plea of releasing Subrata Roy and other two directors from police custody. The Court found Sahara's proposal of refunding crores of rupees to small investors in installments improper and therefore rejected it by calling it a "big insult". The apex court pulled up the Sahara chief for making bench assemble before March 11 schedule. The SC, however, allowed Sahara's financial consultants and lawyers to meet Roy in jail between 10 AM and 12 noon everyday.
