New Delhi, Sept 22 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 116.32 points up to stand at 27,206.74. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 24.85 points up to stand at 8,146.30. GITANJALI and JAIPRAKASH ASSOCIATES LTD. were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 5.96% and 5.65% along with TATAMOTORS and ONGC with an increase of 3.80% and 3.32% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include SUZLON and INFRATEL with a decrease of 9.80% and 5.70% along with BHUSHAN STEEL LTD. and NATIONALUM with a decrease of 4.97% and 4.41% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 176.10 points at 18,269.83 while the banking sector is up 52.99 points at 18,532.20 and the reality sector is down 14.24 points at 1,759.93. SC asks SPP to assist in Ranjit Sinha case with regard to CPIL's refusal to name whistleblower

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday asked Anand Grover, special public prosecutor in the 2G spectrum allocation case, to assist it after Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) refused naming the whistleblower who had furnished the guest book at the residence of CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha. Earlier, Prashant Bhushan had urged the SC to withdraw order disclosing whistleblower's name in the case. Sinha's lawyer said that there was no detailed hearing on Monday and that the court deferred the hearing for October 10th. Sep 22, 2014

SC asks reply from Government on transparency in CVC appointment

New Delhi, Sep 18 (ANI): The Supreme Court has asked a reply from the Central Government regarding transparency in appointment of CVCs by the government. Lawyer Prashant Bhushan said that the Court sought an answer as to why appointments were being made by a limited number of people and opportunity not reaching the general population as a whole. Prashant Bhushan refuses to reveal whistleblower's name to SC in Ranjit Sinha's case

New Delhi, Sep 18 (ANI): Lawyer Prashant Bhushan on Thursday said that the Supreme Court had asked him to reveal the whistleblower's name in case against CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha, to which he refused to do so. Bhushan said that in a meeting of Centre of Public Interest Litigation, it was decided that the whistleblower's name shall not be revealed citing danger to his life as also seen in previous cases. The Court had asked Bhushan to disclose the name of the whistleblower that had passed information regarding the file book of CBI on basis of which the case was filed. Sep 18, 2014
