Indias IT hub runs in midnight marathon

Bengaluru, Dec 21 (ANI): More than 10,000 people participated in a midnight marathon, presently in its eighth edition, in India’s IT hub Bengaluru in Karnataka. The marathon saw runners of all age groups, professional athletes and enthusiastic runners, taking part in full enthusiasm. President of IT Rotary Club Bengaluru, Rajeev Unnikrishnan, said the purpose behind organizing the marathon is to raise funds for building toilets, infrastructure development of schools across the city and ‘Swachh Bengaluru’, which is in the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Clean India Mission. Maoists attack construction site in Latehar

Latehar, Dec 18 (ANI): Maoist rebels targeted construction workers in Jharkhand early this week, leaving several injured. The attack took place in Latehar district, a stronghold of Maoist rebels. The rebels destroyed the make-shift tent and thrashed all the workers engaged in the construction of a bridge. The construction site was attacked sometime around midnight on the intervening night of Tuesday. The rebels also burnt machines at the site before leaving pamphlets behind in which they owned up for the incident. Meanwhile, six construction workers are undergoing treatment in a local hospital. Petrol & Diesel prices cut by Rs 2 per litre each

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Dec 16 (ANI): Petrol and diesel prices were on Tuesday cut by Rs 2 per litre each as international oil prices slumped to five-year low. This is the eighth straight reduction in petrol prices since August, and fourth in diesel since October. New rates were effective from midnight, Indian Oil Corp, the nation's largest fuel retailer had announced. In Delhi, petrol now cost Rs 61.33 a litre, the lowest in 44 months, as compared to previous price of Rs 63.33. The price has been cut by Rs 2.09 a litre in Mumbai to Rs 68.86. Diesel now cost Rs 50.51 a litre in Delhi, the lowest since July 2013, as against Rs 52.51 previously. In Mumbai, it costs Rs 57.91 per litre as compared to earlier Rs 60.11. Meanwhile, consumers in both Mumbai and the national capital were elated by the cut in prices and credited Modi government for the same. Dec 16, 2014
