Hundreds of Iraqis flee homes as Mosul offensive continues

More than 1,000 Iraqis have left their homes in the village of Abu Jarboua near the town of Bashiqa, despite Isis threats of execution for those trying to escape. Iraqi troops and Kurdish fighters have cleared dozens of villages as they drive towards Mosul, giving confidence to civilians looking to escape the conflict. The MP for Leigh, and former Shadow Home Secretary, has called on the government to investigate the so-called Battle of Orgreave. More than 70 officers and 50 strikers were injured after clashes in July 1984, during the height of the UK miners strikes.
