Foreign Minister lauds Indian community for contributing to Oman's economy

Muscat, Feb 18 (ANI): Union Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj lauded Indian community in Oman for boosting the economy of oil-rich Gulf nation. She was addressing the Indian diaspora in Muscat. Swaraj arrived in Oman on Tuesday for holding bilateral talks with the nation's leadership. She is on two-day official visit at the invitation of the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, and will discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations, regional and international issues of mutual interest. Swaraj also thanked the NRIs (non-resident Indians) for taking part in large number in the diaspora event in India's western state of Gujarat in January. During her visit Swaraj will hold extensive talks with her Omani counterpart Abdullah on Wednesday (February 18). The two are also likely to discuss Modi's possible visit to Oman later this year. SAARC member countries participate in "South Asian Biotechnology Conference" in New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): The faculty of Life Sciences and Biotech of South Asia University in New Delhi hosts a 3-day long "SouthAsian Biotechnology Conference" in the capital. Delegates from SAARC countries participated in the event to discuss the feasibility and modalities of enhanced cooperation in the area of Life Sciences and Biotechnology. Sameer M. Dixit, the director of Research, Center for Molecular Dynamics, Nepal said the initiative of collaborative research by India will be useful in expanding R and D and other developments in biotechnology. Sharing of research ideas by various countries will bring a new revolution in the field of science. Jamal Ahmad Mahmood from Afghanistan says India will serve as a good platform for Afghan scientists to carry on their research work. Mozammel Haque Khan in New Delhi ahead of Home Secretary level talks between the two countries. Khan will meet India's new Home Secretary LC Goyal later in the day to hold talks on issues like cross-border movements of people and goods, border cooperation in counter-terror initiatives. India's links with Bangladesh are civilisational, cultural, social and economic. On February 14, Singh had visited border areas of Tripura to review the progress of fencing work.
