Election officials sent to polling booths via helicopters in poll bound Jharkhand

Gumla, Nov 24 (ANI): Election officials left for polling booths in the Maoist affected districts of Jharkhand via helicopters on Monday to prevent any untoward incidents ahead of polls that start Tuesday. Indian security forces had launched a massive anti-Maoist operation on November 11 to prevent any problem in the election process. District Election Officer, Gauri Shankar Mij said all necessary precautions are being taken in the Maoist affected districts for the polls. Maoists have called for boycott of the five-phased polls in Jharkhand that begin from November 25 and end on December 20. The results would be announced on December 23. An election booth officer who was sent via helicopter to a polling station, Arun Tripathi said their wish was to see high turnout in the polls. Nov 24, 2014

Erbil, Nov 21 (ANI): Addressing a peace conference in Erbil city, Indian spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar called for peace in Iraq and said communication needs to be established with those who are misguided in the name of religion. Ravi Shankar on Wednesday stepped up relief work for Yazidi refugees trapped in Erbil town of northern Iraq, following an insurgency by Islamic State militants. The International Association for Human Values (IAHV), a sister concern of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's 'Art of Living,' has teamed up with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Iraq for relief operations. Ravi Shankar said those misguided by religion need to be educated. Ravi Shankar said India, too, had been under attack by aggressors but its faith in non-violence has remained intact.
