Lakshmikant Sharma and others sent to judicial custody over Vyapam scam

Bhopal, June 27 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Former minister was sent to jail over alleged involvement in Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, in which many government employees are under scanner for getting selected through unfair means. Special Task Force (STF) constituted for an investigation into MPPEB scam, or Vyapam scam, detained Laxmikant Sharma, former state technical education minister, for interrogation. STF inspector, Indresh Tripathi, said total 15 people have been sent to judicial custody. India's Congress party had accused leaders of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of being involved in the scam. Congress party spokesperson, KK Mishra, had demanded a CBI probe in the nexus among middlemen, politicians, bureaucrats and education mafia.

Yashwant Sinha granted bail by Jharkhand court

Hazaribagh, June 18 (ANI): Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha on Wednesday was granted bail by a Jharkhand court, days after he was arrested for leading a demonstration against the poor power conditions in the state. He was arrested on June 2 and was sent to judicial custody after he refused to furnish a bail bond. Sinha applied for bail, a day after senior BJP leader LK Advani on Tuesday met him in Hazaribagh jail. After meeting Sinha, Advani had felt the latter should play a bigger role in the state. As many as 300 workers were taken into custody along with Sinha for allegedly assaulting Jharkhand State Electricity Board official over a power crisis issue in the state.

Advani meets Yashwant Sinha at Hazaribagh jail

Hazaribagh, June 17 (ANI): Senior BJP leader LK Advani on Tuesday met former union minister Yashwant Sinha, who is in judicial custody in Jharkhand. On Monday Sinha's judicial custody was extended till June 28. He was arrested on June 02 for leading a demonstration at the Electricity Board office in Hazaribagh town of Jharkhand and was sent to 14 days' judicial custody next day after he refused to furnish the bail bond. A local court on Monday extended the judicial remand of the senior Jharkhand BJP leader till June 28 as he did not move for bail in connection with the alleged assault of a senior government official earlier this month.

Search still on for kidnapped Chinese cyclist: Pak Foreign

Islamabad, June 12 (ANI): Pakistan said on Thursday that the search was still on for a Chinese tourist on a cycling tour of the country, kidnapped by the Taliban last month. The man was kidnapped on May 19 in Daraban, near the western city of Dera Ismail Khan. Abdullah Bahar, a senior Taliban commander, said the man was in their custody. Daraban police said they were searching for the man. Pakistan's Foreign Office Spokesperson, Tasneem Aslam said the teams were making efforts to recover the Chinese tourist.

Alert personnel recover live bombs and timers in Ranchi

Ranchi, June 8 (ANI): A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) recovered 18 live bombs and timers from Sithio village in Ranchi. This is the same village from where terrorists were arrested in connection with the Patna blast. Police said these bombs were identical to those used in the Patna blasts prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election rally.

Grenades recovered while cleaning of pond in Ludhiana's village

Ludhiana, June 05 (ANI): Panic gripped Sidhwan Khurd village near Jagraon city on the Ludhiana-Ferozepur highway in Punjab with the recovery of 14 hand grenades and 33 cartridges of AK-47 rifles from a pond during cleaning operations. A police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jagraon city, Naveen Kumar, reached the spot, sealed the area and took the ammunition into its custody. He confirmed that 14 hand grenades and 33 cartridges of AK-47 rifle were found in the village pond. The ammunitions were recovered while some workers hired under the MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) Scheme were cleaning the pond.
