Bhopal, June 27 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Former minister was sent to jail over alleged involvement in Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, in which many government employees are under scanner for getting selected through unfair means. Special Task Force (STF) constituted for an investigation into MPPEB scam, or Vyapam scam, detained Laxmikant Sharma, former state technical education minister, for interrogation. STF inspector, Indresh Tripathi, said total 15 people have been sent to judicial custody. India's Congress party had accused leaders of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of being involved in the scam. Congress party spokesperson, KK Mishra, had demanded a CBI probe in the nexus among middlemen, politicians, bureaucrats and education mafia. Jun 27, 2014

Hazaribagh, June 18 (ANI): Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha on Wednesday was granted bail by a Jharkhand court, days after he was arrested for leading a demonstration against the poor power conditions in the state. He was arrested on June 2 and was sent to judicial custody after he refused to furnish a bail bond. Sinha applied for bail, a day after senior BJP leader LK Advani on Tuesday met him in Hazaribagh jail. After meeting Sinha, Advani had felt the latter should play a bigger role in the state. On Monday Sinha's judicial custody was extended till June 28. He was arrested on June 02 for leading a demonstration at the Electricity Board office in Hazaribagh town of Jharkhand and was sent to 14 days' judicial custody next day after he refused to furnish the bail bond. Ludhiana, June 05 (ANI): Panic gripped Sidhwan Khurd village near Jagraon city on the Ludhiana-Ferozepur highway in Punjab with the recovery of 14 hand grenades and 33 cartridges of AK-47 rifles from a pond during cleaning operations. A police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jagraon city, Naveen Kumar, reached the spot, sealed the area and took the ammunition into its custody.
