Singapore appoints special envoy to Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (ANI): Singapore government appointed senior policy strategist, Gopinath Pillai, as its special envoy to Andhra Pradesh to speed up construction of new capital of the state. Presently, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana share Hyderabad as joint capital. The appointment was announced by Singapore Foreign Minister K Shanmugam and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during a news conference at the secretariat in capital Hyderabad on Thursday. The Singapore government will be presenting the first-phase of draft master plan of the new capital by June. Naidu said he was happy and content with the working style of Singapore government. Shanmugam is on a four-day visit to India to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. Feb 26, 2015

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday said that Foreign Rail Technology Cooperation Scheme would be launched to help in technology upgradation. Presenting the Railway Budget for fiscal 2015-16 in Parliament, Prabhu stressed on the need to decentralise, deregulate and delegate to make freight business simpler. No new trains were, however, announced this year in the rail budget. There was no increase in railway passenger fares either. The Railways Minister further said that mobile phone charging facilities would be provided in general class coaches and the number of charging facilities would be increased in sleeper class coaches. Singapore, Rajasthan sign water management pact

Jaipur, Feb 26 (ANI): Singapore and Rajasthan signed a joint water management agreement in pink city of Jaipur. Singapore Foreign Minister K Shanmugam and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje were present during the signing between the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) set up by the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, and the Public Health Engineering Department of the Government of Rajasthan. The agreements that were signed included water management and governance of waste water treatment, which is expected to help the desert state to achieve a sustainable water management system. Shanmugam said the joint venture would see development not only for Rajasthan but also for Singapore in the long run. Bahrain Foreign Minister meets Indian PM Modi in New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): Bahrain Foreign Minister, Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Khalifa had arrived in the country on February 22 on an invitation by his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj. He co-chaired the first meeting of the India-Bahrain High Joint Commission with Swaraj. Khalifa also extended a letter of invitation to Modi to visit Bahrain on behalf of Prime Minister, Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa.
