Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav reshuffles UP Cabinet, politicos react

Lucknow, June 18 (ANI): After Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav met all ministers of his government and directed them to shape up or ship out, government ordered late night reshuffle of key cabinet portfolios on Tuesday. In the first major post-LS poll decision that affects SP ministers, the government downgraded many ministers and promoted some. At least 12 portfolios have changed hands, and prominent among them are Balram Yadav, who has been divested of the charge of Panchayati Raj and appointed Minister for Prisons. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary was made Minister for Political Pensions. He was earlier Minister for Prisons. Meanwhile, reacting over this, Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that mere reshuffling will not work, the ministers appointed should be allowed to do work. Meanwhile, the BJP targeted Akhilesh over this and said that the CM changed portfolios of ministers because they were not performing well but Akhilesh should introspect himself also because the ministries under him are also not doing well.
