New Delhi, Aug 03 (ANI): Indian wrestler Rajiv Tomar on Sunday said that the arrest of Indian sports officials in Glasgow will bring disgrace to the country and spoil the winner image. Rajeev Mehta, secretary general of the Indian Olympic Association and a senior member of the Indian contingent at the Commonwealth Games, and wrestling referee Virender Singh Malik, were arrested in Glasgow on Saturday evening, evoking shock and shame among athletes and sports lovers. The two were in custody over the weekend and will be produced in a Glasgow court on Monday. While Mehta was arrested for allegedly driving above the legal alcohol limit, Malik was held for allegedly being involved in sexual assault in a hotel. Aug 3, 2014

Two suspected Pakistan-based militants sent to police custody in New Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 3 (ANI): Authorities produced two suspected operatives of Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) before the court in New Delhi and were remanded to police custody till August 12. Delhi police had arrested suspected LeT operatives Abdul Subhan and his aide Asahbuddin on July 20 for their alleged role in conspiring terror attacks in Delhi and other areas. They were produced before the court after their remand expired and Delhi police sought the extension of their custody. Bhubaneswar, July 19 (ANI): Court has sent India___s top Maoist leader, Sabyasachi Panda to ten days of police custody after his arrest in Odisha. Panda was produced in front of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) of Berhampur amid tight security on Friday evening where he was ordered to be sent on 10-day police custody. Acting on intelligence information, a police team nabbed the 48-year-old fugitive rebel leader after raiding a hideout at Berhampur in Odisha_s Ganjam district. Police recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from his possession. DIG of Police (Southern Range) Amitabh Thakur termed the arrest of top rebel leader as a major blow to the Maoist outfit. Parents protest against assault of minor girl in school in Bangalore

Bangalore, July 17 (ANI): Agitated parents protested in Vibgyor High School in Bangalore as a 6 year old girl was sexually assaulted in the school. The parents said the school _tried to cover up the matter_ and did not inform them about the incident, which took place on July 2. The Chairman of the school, Rustom Kerawala, assured that safety measures will be improved in school to keep all the students safe. He added that the school authorities are co-operating in investigation and confirmed that the suspected accused have been taken in police custody. However, the parents said they are not satisfied by the statements the school is giving. Meanwhile, Bangalore DCP TD Pawar said that the matter was reported quite late but he assured that action will be taken against the culprits. Reportedly, the girl was taken to a hospital after she expressed discomfort at home, which was when it was revealed that she was raped.
