Train services on Mumbai Central Line hit

Mumbai, Jan 02 (ANI): Services of local trains in Mumbai were affected on Friday after an overhead cable wire fell down on the tracks. According to reports, the incident happened on the local central line. A local train broke down at the Thakurli station, near Kalyan, in Thane district. There were also reports of stone pelting and torching of vehicles by disgruntled commuters in and around the Diva Station. Police had to resort to a mild baton charge to discharge agitating crowds that had gathered in the station's vicinity to protest over the delay in the plying of trains. Apart from Diva station, the other stations where services have been affected are Thane and Thakurli. Further details are awaited. Jan 2, 2015

New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal escaped unhurt after a stone was hurled at him during a pubic rally at Deoli on Saturday. The stone thrown by a youth barely reached the dais. The youth was apprehended by the police and taken to the Neb Sari police station. Kejriwal while reacting over the incident said that stones don't scare him and the incident shows that the opposition parties who are behind these attacks are scared of them. Varanasi, Dec 26 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear that his government will not privatise railways and instead wants to put more money for the development of railways. Modi was addressing railway workers in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. Modi was at the Diesel Locomotive Workshop in the city to lay foundation stone of the extension of the workshop. Modi added the private money and foreign investments will be used to facilitate modernization of the national transporter. Highlighting the importance he wanted to give to the railways, Modi talked about setting up four railway universities to boost the capabilities of the sector. Modi said that by bringing modern changes to the railways, India could develop more. The Prime Minister also dedicated to the country a new high tech engine made in the workshop.
