SCI launches first shipping service to Myanmar

Chennai, Oct 04 (ANI): India launched its first shipping service to Myanmar connecting both the countries under the concept of 'look east' policy to boost bilateral ties. The shipping corporation of India (SCI) and the ministry of shipping have launched a direct service to Myanmar for the first time with the help of foreign ministry and commerce ministry. The fortnightly service was flagged off at Krishnapatnam Port, one of the fastest growing ports on the East Coast of India, after it sailed from Chennai late Friday. Secretary, Ministry Of Shipping, Vishwapati Trivedi said beyond commercial trade it will strengthen trade relationship between both countries. Trivedi also said they were trying to sign up new agreement with Bangladesh in trade and it's under process considering various restrictions. Oct 4, 2014

Karachi, Sep 30 (ANI): Pakistan maritime authorities arrested 25 Indian fishermen and took into custody their four boats for illegal fishing in the country's territorial waters according to a police official. The arrest came after Pakistan detained 29 Indian fishermen on September 27, making a total number of detainees to 54 in two days. Karachi, Sep 28 (ANI): Pakistan maritime authorities arrested twenty nine Indian fishermen and took into custody their five boats for illegal fishing in the country's territorial waters, according to a police official. The arrested fishermen were handed over to police in the port city of Karachi for necessary legal action. According to maritime security agency, the fishermen were almost 10 kilometres inside Pakistan territorial waters when they were detained. Agartala, Sept 23 (ANI): The border trade between India and Bangladesh through Tripura is increasing at a fair speed, said a top official of the state industry. Director of Industries, department of Tripura, P L Agrawal, said that trade is continuously increasing between both the countries. Agrawal assured that by next month, one of the two border haats (market) in Tripura will be operating and will increase Indo-Bangladesh official trade. He also informed that Bangladesh has agreed to allow India to use its river and sea port. There have been talks on opening of the Chittagong and Ashuganj ports and both sides are positive.
