Girl child campaign will solve skewed sex ratio, says Maneka Gandhi

New Delhi/ Odisha, Sep 17 (ANI): Union Minister for Women And Child Development Maneka Gandhi, unveiled the logo of girl child campaign 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' (Save girl, educate girl) and said the programme will help sort out skewed sex ratio in 100 villages and produce desired results in two years. Gandhi launched the logo on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, saying it was his pet scheme. She also said childline services will be provided in around 280 locations across the country in the coming days, besides opening new child rights protection hubs. Gandhi added that rules regarding child adoption in India were eased so that parents don't have to wait for years for custody. She said ministry will take initiative to raise awareness on child sexual abuse in schools. Sep 17, 2014

Suspected ISI agent arrested by NIA, under judicial custody till 25th September

Chennai, Sep 11 (ANI): National Intelligence Agency (NIA) on Thursday produced Arun Selvaraj, a suspected ISI suspect in the Special Court under POTA at Poonamale, Chennai. He was arrested yesterday in Chennai by NIA. Public Prosecutor CSS Pillai said that Selvaraj is taken under judicial custody till September 25th. The allegations on Selvaraj are assisting in routing terror financing, collecting vital info about defence among others. Police claim to arrest two foreign nationals staying illegally in Dharamshala

Dharamshala, Sep 09 (ANI): The local police claimed to have arrested two foreigners- one Russian and another Israeli- who have been staying illegally in the north Indian foothill town of Dharamsala. The police conducted a drive against foreigners staying illegally in Dharamshala and adjoining areas as a routine check and arrested another national, an Israeli, Gabrial Damian Kattan, without any valid documents at Dharamkot village near Mcleodganj town. Kattan came to India in 1999 and has been staying at different places secretly since then. He was also found in possession of two passports, one Argentinean passport expired in the year 2007 while the Israeli passport he possessed expired in 2012. The two accused have been booked under Foreigners Act, 1946 and sent to judicial custody till September 18 by a local court on Monday. Sep 9, 2014
