SC ends Bollywood ban on women make up artists

New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday ended the ban which Bollywood film fraternity had imposed on women make-up artists. Lawyer Jyotika Kalra said that Supreme Court termed the ban to be illegal and discriminatory against women, thus terminating it. Additionally the Maharashtra police have been directed to protect women make up artists at work. Meanwhile the petitioner Charu Khurana expressed her happiness at the judgement for the case she had been fighting since a long time. While women work in most areas of Bollywood including as technicians and hairdressers, the industry does not allow them to work as make-up artists. Former TMC leader Asif Khan hospitalized after his arrest in alleged cheating case

Kolkata, Nov 07 (ANI): Former Trinamool Congress leader Asif Khan was admitted to a state run hospital in Kolkata after he was arrested for his alleged involvement in a cheating case. Khan complained of chest pain and other health related problems following which he was admitted to NRS hospital. His lawyer said that the case was falsely forged on him and is a part of political vengeance. Khan, who had lashed out at a section of the party leadership and accused them of being involved in the Saradha chit fund scam, was arrested from his residence at Tiljala in the eastern part of the city in connection with a cheating case in a land deal in the Rajarhat-New Town area. Bangladesh lawyer demands punishment for convicted war criminals of 1971

Dhaka, Nov 5 (ANI): Speakers from different sectors with a common conviction to erase Jamaat-e-Islami party came together at a forum in Bangladesh's capital city Dhaka recently. They demanded punishment for those who have been convicted in the trial of war criminals of 1971 and said the punishment should not be reviewed under any circumstances and also presidential mercy must not be rewarded. Afroz was addressing the 'forum for secular Bangladesh and trial of war criminals of 1971' organised on the occasion of the 42nd year of Bangladesh's Constitution. Meanwhile, journalist and human rights activist Shahriar Kabir, during his address to the gathering at the seminar, emphasized that until and unless Jamaat-e-Islami is rooted out from Bangladesh, the country will never be able to fulfill its dream of the dead soldiers who fought the war of liberation.
